What does this mean?
It means we are one step closer to a justice system that puts victims first while holding offenders accountable.
As a lawyer and the Parliamentary Assistant to the Attorney General, I called for a victim centred approach that makes restraining orders more accessible, more consistent, and more responsive to risk. An approach that focuses on improving coordination across police, courts, and victim services, reducing unnecessary barriers, to ensure that survivors aren’t forced back into court year after year simply to prove they still deserve to be safe.
A thank you to all the incredible police services, victim services, human trafficking teams, and community representatives I consulted with to make this a reality.

I will always fight to protect victims.
Protecting victims means protecting communities right across this great Province. When the system responds effectively, we prevent further harm, we support healing, and we strengthen public safety for everyone.
